For Heritage Week 2020, the Disert Heritage Group was proud to present a series of short videos about the connections people have to the wonderful site of Disert, in Inver parish, near Donegal Town. Each day over the course of National Heritage Week, 15 – 23 August 2020, these were shared on Facebook and here on the Disert Heritage Group website.

We were delighted to receive our certificate and piece of Jerpoint Glass to acknowledge that the series was a Runner Up for the’Heritage on Your Doorstep’ award during National Heritage Week 2020 Awards, sponsored by the Heritage Council.

23rd August 2020, We end the series of videos with Marie Burns (O’Neill) talking about her connection to Disert and plays a piece on her harp adapted from a tune written in the area.
22nd August 2020. Hi Folks, Today Gerry Meehan (Folksy Gerry), talks about his childhood memories of people in Disert and his father who was a postman in the district. Tomorrow, Marie Burns (O’Neill) ends the series with a brief account of her connection to Disert and plays us a piece on her harp written in the area.
Friday, 21st August 2020. Hi Folks, we hope you are all keeping well and safe. Today we have Dr Fiona Beglane talking about her connections to Disert. Tomorrow Gerry Meehan (Folksy Gerry) tells us about some of the people who lived and worked in Disert in his youth.
August 20th, 2020. Today we have Michelle Ward who lives local to Disert, talking about her association with the place and her role with the Heritage Group. Tomorrow Dr Fiona Beglane will tell us about one of her favourite places and her archaeological interest in Disert
Wednesday 19th August 2020. Todays video features Alex Reid talking about St. Colmcille and his association with Disert. Tomorrow we will have Michele Ward a founding member of the Disert Heritage Group.
Tuesday, 18th August 2020. Hi Folks, today’s videos are Aisling Meehan talking about her connections to Disert and Eugene Anderson talking about his role with the Group.
Monday, 17th August, today we have Alice Doherty (Gillespie) talking about growing up in the Disert area. Tomorrow Aisling Meehan and later Eugene Anderson will speak about their connections to this special place.
Sunday the 16th August 2020. In todays video, Helen Meehan talks about her connection to Disert and the formation of the Disert Heritage Group. Tomorrow we will have Alice Doherty (Gillespie) talking about growing up in the Disert area.
